In the early 00’s, dance music became an oxymoron.  Sure, if you heard this in a nightclub late at night when you were coming down from ecstasy you might sway.  But it wasn’t really meant to stimulate swinging on the dance floor.  The majority of these tracks were indie rock records in disguise with a high-tech sheen.  There was a whole trend of downbeat, minor key, lyrically somber, but melodically strong “disco mixes” that appeared on my dance compilations.  As such, I devoured this hybrid with relish.  So leave the sequins and feathers behind, and get down!
