Manhattanhedge.  The name conjures up images of ancient stone structures illuminated by moonlight.  But this slang term actually refers to the biannual event when the sun sets in line with the city grid.  This results in a stunning display of natural light.  And tonight is the big night.  There is always strange sensation that overtakes me when the sun goes down in New York City.  They say the freaks come out at night, but dusk is the beginning of an infinite possibility of nocturnal adventures.  And while I am no longer a night owl, I still feel the rush of excitement when the sun goes down.  Everything looks better in the dark, but our urban glamor is truly a thing of beauty during twilight.  It is almost as if the absence of light unleashes your inner inhibitions and allows you to become your ultimate self.  Perhaps it is just easier to avoid the harsh light of reality in dim conditions.  My years of nightclubbing certainly had an increased effect on my overactive id.  Regardless I have always felt invincible in the midnight hour.   As if this cloak of darkness would protect me from the usual trolls down on the street.  In honor of this unofficial holiday, I present my favorite song about sunset.  I have to warn you that if you do not have a high tolerance for modern bubblegum, you won’t enjoy this next video.  But if you’re able to appreciate manufactured pop, this ones for you.   Even the S Club haters had to admit this single had a certain charm.  One DJ said “I hate the Juniors, but this song is good”.
